A brilliant and fun read. Relived the magical experience of this film through your review and reverie. I had so many notes on this film too. It just stirred up so many time travel wanderlust sentimentsβ¦ Being in the Village and at the Chelsea Hotelβ¦ and that scene in the beginning where he walks into the bar and there are famous people there too who may not have been at the time but become giants. I canβt recall who all was there but it just gives you scale and context at the iconic significance of all these artists converging in these places at the point in history sharing their music and constantly inspiring one another (through the osmosis that comes with close physical proximity) I donβt know that it still happens.
I think it happens a lot more than we realize. It's in HINDSIGHT that we go...oh, yeah, that person was there, and all... it happened in London late 1960s when Hendrix showed up and Pink Floyd got in a selfie with him and the Experience! We might have pockets of culture pop up in 2025 due to all the stupid stuff. who knows?
One thing I appreciated is that the movie didn't put Dylan on a pedestal. We see him warts and all. He's obviously gifted, but he carelessly hurts others. Pete Seeger mentors him, but Bob largely turns his back on him at the end of the movie.
After seeing it, I wanted to explore Dylan's music more., which is perhaps the highest praise I could give the movie. Glad we got to see it!

Thanks, Edward. This was fascinating. Did you ever meet Joe Boyd? Best, Mike
I donβt know if this film will resonate with non-Dylan fans, but as for a fanatic like myself? I think itβs as perfect as can be.
All Mangoldβs films are tightly paced. Heβs a master of story structure!
Hello I just followed kindly do well and follow me back
Thanks but no.

I saw it yesterday
what you write is true, Michael
the magic and mystery
stay with me
linger and transport me
move and inspire me
he gives me Dylan
in the raw
as I know and love him
he honors Dylan
in giving him to us
with such generosity
that it does not fade
this is art
immortalizing
the artist
thank you!
